Visual Quality Expert (Film, VFX & Animation)

About this role

You will evaluate high-resolution AI-enhanced images and video at pixel level for professional visual quality. | The role focuses on identifying artifacts such as compression, noise, aliasing, banding, grain inconsistency, and sharpening issues. | You will help define evaluation standards, rating guidelines, and visual-quality benchmarks for advanced AI models. | This is a part-time W-2 role, fully remote within the United States with PST–EST working-hour overlap.

Visual Quality AI Expert

Responsibilities

• Evaluate high-resolution video and still images for compression artifacts, noise, aliasing, banding, grain issues, and sharpening quality.
• Design and refine evaluation templates, rating guidelines, and visual-quality standards for consistent reviewer scoring.
• Translate subtle visual defects into clear captions, technical descriptions, and structured evaluation feedback.
• Generate visual test samples and collaborate with other experts to maintain consistency across sequences and reviewers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in high-end visual evaluation across film, VFX, animation, cinematography, or professional photography.
• Hands-on expertise as a VFX/rendering supervisor, lighting artist, colorist, cinematographer, effects/surfacing artist, photographer, director, or digital projectionist.
• Reliable access to a 4K-resolution monitor plus strong understanding of visual perception, lighting, image artifacts, and pixel-level quality.
• Familiarity with AI tools, fluent English, and ability to communicate complex visual observations clearly and precisely.
