About this role

You will support the evaluation and improvement of AI systems designed to automate medical billing and claims submission workflows. The role combines billing operations leadership with AI quality evaluation, focusing on professional fee and/or facility billing, claim generation, clearinghouse edits, payer requirements, EDI transactions, and billing compliance. You will review AI-generated billing outputs, identify errors and compliance risks, and provide structured feedback to help improve first-pass claim acceptance and overall revenue cycle performance.

Responsibilities

Billing operations: Oversee end-to-end medical billing and claims submission across professional fee and/or facility environments.
AI billing evaluation: Review AI-generated billing outputs, claim edits, coding validations, and submission recommendations for accuracy and payer compliance.
Claims management: Manage electronic claim generation, clearinghouse edits, payer-specific billing requirements, and claim submission workflows.
Performance monitoring: Track clean claim rates, rejection rates, first-pass acceptance rates, productivity, and turnaround times.
Error resolution: Coordinate with coding, CDI, collections, and revenue cycle teams to resolve billing edits and claim rejections.
Compliance: Ensure billing processes align with CMS guidelines, HIPAA 837 transaction standards, and payer-specific requirements.
Team management: Manage billing staff workload, productivity, quality metrics, and operational performance.
SOP development: Create and maintain billing procedures, payer-specific reference guides, and workflow documentation.
AI training support: Annotate AI-generated billing outputs and provide structured expert feedback for healthcare AI training datasets.

Qualifications

Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in medical billing and claims management, including at least 2 years in a management or leadership role.
Deep knowledge of professional fee billing using CMS-1500/837P and/or facility billing using UB-04/837I.
Strong expertise in HIPAA 837 transaction standards, clearinghouse operations, electronic claim submission, and payer-specific billing rules.
Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer billing requirements.
Experience monitoring clean claim rates, first-pass acceptance, rejections, and billing-related denials.
Proficiency with billing platforms such as Epic, Athenahealth, AdvancedMD, or equivalent systems.
Experience working with clearinghouse tools and electronic claims workflows.
Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills.
High attention to detail with the ability to identify billing errors, compliance risks, and inaccuracies in AI-generated outputs.
Must be based in the United States.
