You will help a leading AI lab evaluate character performance transfer models that preserve timing, emotion, facial expression, and physical performance. | The role focuses on defining quality standards, reviewing model outputs, and improving evaluation methods for human and character animation. | You will help curate performance benchmarks and shape reviewer profiles and scoring rubrics. | This is a part-time W-2 role requiring occasional in-person sessions in Playa Vista, CA or New York, NY.

Character Facial Animation Expert

Responsibilities

Define evaluation standards for emotional resonance, facial performance, physical fidelity, and authenticity.
Curate benchmark examples covering both easy-to-capture and challenging character performances.
Help define reviewer qualifications, evaluation rubrics, and quality expectations for large-scale model assessment.
Collaborate with animation and subject-matter experts to maintain accurate and consistent evaluations.

Qualifications

Minimum 4+ years of hands-on character animation experience with character or human performance as a primary specialty.
Verifiable credits on 2+ feature films, animated features, or AAA game cinematics at recognized studios.
Direct experience with facial animation, performance capture, motion-capture solving, cleanup, motion editing, or facial/performance rigs.
Familiarity with AI tools plus strong ability to evaluate micro-expressions, emotional beats, and subtle performance details.
