About this role

You will support the evaluation and improvement of AI systems designed to enhance patient collections, self-pay revenue recovery, and patient financial engagement workflows. The role combines patient financial services leadership with AI quality evaluation, focusing on self-pay collections, payment plan administration, early-out programs, bad debt management, and patient financial advocacy. You will review AI-generated patient communications and collection strategies, identify compliance or workflow issues, and provide structured feedback to improve patient payment experiences and revenue recovery.

Responsibilities

Patient collections leadership: Lead self-pay and patient collections operations, including early-out collections, bad debt management, and payment plan administration.
AI output evaluation: Review AI-generated patient financial communications, payment plan recommendations, and self-pay resolution strategies for accuracy and compliance.
Collection strategy: Develop and implement pre-service, point-of-service, and post-service self-pay collection strategies.
Payment plan management: Oversee patient payment plan enrollment, monitoring, and compliance.
Cross-functional collaboration: Coordinate with financial counselling, billing, revenue cycle, and bad debt recovery teams to improve self-pay revenue capture.
KPI monitoring: Track self-pay collection rates, payment plan conversion, bad debt write-offs, and patient satisfaction metrics.
Regulatory compliance: Ensure processes comply with FDCPA, HIPAA, state collection laws, and internal financial assistance policies.
Vendor management: Oversee collection agencies and early-out vendors where applicable.
AI training support: Annotate AI outputs and provide structured expert feedback for healthcare AI training datasets.

Qualifications

Minimum 5+ years of experience in patient collections, self-pay revenue cycle, patient financial services, or related healthcare operations.
At least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
Deep knowledge of self-pay collection workflows, patient financial engagement, and FDCPA compliance.
Experience managing early-out and bad debt collection programs, including third-party vendor oversight.
Familiarity with propensity-to-pay tools and patient payment technology platforms.
Proficiency with EHR, healthcare billing, and patient collections systems.
Strong understanding of patient financial assistance policies and collection compliance requirements.
Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills.
High attention to detail with the ability to evaluate AI-generated patient financial communications and collection strategies.
Must be based in the United States.
