Physics Expert (PhD / Postdoc)

Responsibilities

• Solve advanced physics problems within your area of specialization, delivering rigorous derivations and analyses.
• Produce technically precise solutions that clearly document assumptions, approximations, and final results using LaTeX mathematical notation.
• Use SymPy, Python, and Jupyter for symbolic or numerical verification and reproducible computational workflows where appropriate.
• Identify subtleties in problem statements, including special cases, boundary conditions, dimensional consistency, and potential ambiguities.
• Flag ambiguities in project materials and propose well-reasoned interpretations or clarifications.
• Incorporate reviewer feedback and cleanly integrate corrections into submitted solutions.
• Maintain rigorous documentation and reproducibility standards consistent with professional research practice.

Qualifications

• PhD in physics or advanced-stage PhD candidacy with active research experience in a relevant subfield.
• Research expertise in one or more areas including High Energy Physics, Mathematical Physics, Biophysics, Statistical Physics, Condensed Matter, AMO/Quantum Optics, Gravitation, Cosmology, Astrophysics, Quantum Information, or Optical Properties of Materials.
• 2–5 recent representative publications from approximately the past 5 years with accessible arXiv or DOI records.
• Proficiency with LaTeX and computational tools including SymPy, Python, and Jupyter.
• Demonstrated excellence in written technical communication and scientific documentation.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to isolate key physical principles and develop nuanced solutions to complex problems.
• Availability to engage consistently over an 8–10 week project period at approximately 10 hours per week.
