About this role

Chess Expert responsible for supporting the creation of high-quality chess datasets for AI research through transcript correction and complete game reconstruction. The role involves reviewing narrated chess-game transcripts, correcting speech-to-text errors involving pieces, squares, and moves, and reconstructing full games using only the corrected transcript. Experts will produce accurate PGNs, assess whether the available commentary uniquely identifies the complete game, and document any missing information required for accurate reconstruction.

Responsibilities

Correct chess commentary transcription errors.
Identify accurate piece names, squares, moves, and chess terminology.
Reconstruct complete chess games from corrected transcripts without using source videos or external searches.
Build games accurately using analysis boards such as Lichess or Chess.com.
Generate and submit valid PGN notation.
Determine whether transcripts uniquely specify complete games and identify minimal missing information when reconstruction is ambiguous.

Qualifications

1800+ ELO rating through FIDE or an equivalent online chess platform.
Strong understanding of chess strategy, rules, positions, and move sequences.
Fluent understanding of algebraic chess notation.
Comfortable using chess analysis boards and generating PGNs.
Strong ability to understand spoken chess commentary.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when reconstructing games from incomplete or potentially inaccurate information.
