About this role

You will design original, expert-level free-response circuit engineering problems for an AI evaluation benchmark focused on advanced reasoning. The role requires creating difficult industry-grounded questions in analog, digital, power, or RF circuit design, developing complete expert solutions, and testing each problem against frontier language models to confirm that it is sufficiently challenging. This opportunity is intended for senior circuit designers with strong real-world design ownership, including shipped or taped-out products.

Responsibilities

Problem authoring: Create original, research- and industry-level free-response engineering questions in circuit design.
Industry grounding: Base problems on realistic scenarios from analog, digital, power electronics, or RF engineering.
Expert solution development: Write complete, technically rigorous worked solutions with clear derivations and engineering reasoning.
AI benchmark testing: Run each problem against three frontier language models and refine it until at least one model fails.
Difficulty calibration: Ensure questions test genuine circuit-design reasoning rather than simple recall or routine calculations.
Technical validation: Verify assumptions, calculations, circuit behavior, and final answers for accuracy.
Benchmark quality: Produce consistent, high-quality tasks suitable for evaluating advanced AI systems on real engineering reasoning.

Qualifications

PhD in Electrical Engineering or a directly relevant electrical/electronics engineering specialization.
Minimum 5+ years of hands-on professional or industry experience in circuit design.
Strong expertise in at least one of the following areas: analog circuit design, digital circuit design, power electronics, or RF circuit design.
Must have real design ownership with experience shipping products or completing tape-outs.
Strong understanding of circuit analysis, architecture, component selection, trade-offs, performance limitations, and real-world design constraints.
Ability to create technically difficult engineering problems and complete expert-level solutions.
Strong analytical reasoning and technical writing skills.
Experience at established or blue-chip engineering companies is preferred.
