About this role

You will support a frontier AI research initiative focused on materials science, semiconductor systems, superconductors, inorganic synthesis, and advanced characterization. The role involves applying hands-on scientific and engineering expertise to create, structure, solve, and evaluate expert-level scientific content used to train and benchmark advanced AI models. You will review AI-generated reasoning, identify technical errors, develop challenging materials-science problems, and convert experimental procedures, characterization results, and process knowledge into high-quality model-ready data.

Responsibilities

Scientific expertise: Apply domain knowledge across inorganic synthesis, materials characterization, semiconductor fabrication, superconductors, advanced packaging, and device physics.
AI reasoning evaluation: Review AI-generated scientific analyses and identify errors in assumptions, calculations, experimental interpretation, and technical conclusions.
Expert problem design: Create and solve advanced materials-science and physical-science problems requiring genuine technical reasoning.
Model output assessment: Rate and rank AI-generated responses against defined scientific criteria and provide clear written justification.
Experimental data structuring: Organize experimental procedures, characterization data, fabrication processes, and technical results into consistent model-ready formats.
Materials characterization: Evaluate scientific workflows involving XRD, SEM, TEM, spectroscopy, and electrical or transport measurements.
Fabrication knowledge: Contribute expertise in thin-film growth, deposition, etching, epitaxy, and clean-room microfabrication where applicable.
Quality assurance: Ensure submitted scientific content is accurate, technically rigorous, consistent, and completed within project timelines.

Qualifications

Advanced degree such as PhD or MS in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a closely related field, or equivalent substantial hands-on expertise.
Practical experimental experience in one or more areas including inorganic synthesis, semiconductor materials and devices, superconducting materials, or advanced semiconductor packaging.
Hands-on familiarity with synthesis methods such as solid-state, solution-based, solvothermal, or sol-gel processing.
Strong characterization experience using methods such as XRD, SEM, TEM, spectroscopy, electrical measurements, or transport characterization.
Experience interpreting experimental results and identifying limitations, artifacts, or inconsistencies.
Strong scientific reasoning and ability to explain complex technical concepts concisely in written English.
Ability to independently review and validate advanced scientific content.
Must be based in the United States.
