About this role

In this role, you'll apply advanced physics and scientific computing expertise to help build rigorous AI evaluation tasks. You'll author original, executable research problems across physics subdomains, develop grading criteria, and calibrate tasks against frontier models to ensure they present meaningful challenges. This opportunity is suited for PhD-level physics professionals with deep expertise across multiple physics subdomains and practical scientific programming experience.

Responsibilities

• Source material from published papers, Kaggle datasets, open-source repositories, or original scenarios to develop scientific computing tasks.
• Write scientific prompts based on selected research material or scenarios.
• Build grading criteria that define what constitutes a correct answer.
• Author original, executable research problems across physics subdomains.
• Calibrate tasks against frontier models to identify sufficiently challenging problems.
• Develop AI evaluation tasks through a coding-focused scientific computing workflow.

Qualifications

• PhD in physics, applied physics, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated depth in at least two specified physics subdomains.
• Working proficiency in Python, R, or another relevant programming language for scientific computing.
• Comfortable with Git and GitHub.
• Comfortable running code in Docker and working through a pull-request workflow with automated quality checks.
• Publications in peer-reviewed journals or prior scientific software/research engineering experience is preferred.
