About this role

You will support the evaluation and improvement of AI systems designed for patient financial clearance, financial counselling, charity care, and self-pay revenue cycle workflows. The role combines healthcare revenue cycle leadership with patient financial advocacy, focusing on financial assistance eligibility, Medicaid screening, point-of-service collections, and payment resolution. You will review AI-generated recommendations and patient communications, identify inaccuracies or compliance risks, and provide structured expert feedback to help improve next-generation healthcare AI systems.

Patient Financial Clearance Expert

Responsibilities

• Financial clearance leadership: Lead patient financial counselling and clearance workflows, including charity care screening, financial assistance applications, and self-pay resolution.
• AI output evaluation: Review AI-generated counselling recommendations, eligibility screening results, and patient communication drafts for accuracy and appropriateness.
• Eligibility screening: Assess patients for Medicaid eligibility, charity care qualification, and enrollment in financial assistance programs.
• Patient counselling: Educate patients regarding financial responsibilities, payment plans, self-pay options, and available assistance programs.
• Cross-functional coordination: Collaborate with social work, case management, billing, and revenue cycle teams on complex financial situations.
• SOP development: Develop and maintain procedures for pre-service financial screening, financial clearance, assistance enrollment, and point-of-service collections.
• KPI monitoring: Track charity care conversion, financial assistance enrollment, self-pay resolution, and point-of-service collection performance.
• Regulatory compliance: Ensure financial assistance workflows comply with 501(r), EMTALA, and applicable healthcare financial assistance requirements.
• AI training support: Annotate AI outputs and provide structured expert feedback for healthcare AI training datasets.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in patient financial counselling, financial clearance, patient financial services, self-pay revenue cycle management, or a related healthcare function.
• At least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
• Deep knowledge of charity care programs, financial assistance eligibility, Medicaid screening, and self-pay collections.
• Strong familiarity with 501(r) requirements, hospital financial assistance policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Experience managing point-of-service collections, payment plans, financial screening, and patient financial advocacy.
• Proficiency with healthcare platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or comparable EHR and financial assistance management systems.
• Ability to review patient financial documentation and identify eligibility, compliance, or workflow discrepancies.
• Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to independently evaluate AI-generated financial content.
• Must be based in the United States.
